Combat

The combat in traveler is based around stamina. You must choose when to attack and when to defend to keep your stamina high while also attempting to lower your enemies stamina. Lowering your enemies stamina will stun

Blocking/Parrying -Your katana allows you to block most incoming attacks, negating all damage. Timing your block just before an attack lands allows you to execute a parry, which not only blocks the attack but also increases your enemy's stun meter. Parrying can even redirect the attack back at your assailant.
Stamina Based - At the start of the game your stamina is low and blocking attacks instead of parrying can be costly. Depleted stamina will slow your movement briefly leaving you vulnerable to enemy strikes.
Stunning Enemies - As you engage in combat and successfully parry or deal damage to your foes, their stun level gradually increases. Once their stun level reaches its threshold, they become stunned, rendering them unable to launch further attacks or defend themselves for a short duration.

Blocking/Parrying

In Traveler you can block most attacks with your sword to stop all damage by holding the block button and by timing the button just before attack lands you can parry an attack. Blocking an attack decreases your combat stamina, while parrying an attack does not and alternatively builds up your enemies stun level.

Your equipped with a Katana capable of dealing close range damage and more importantly the ability to block and parry incoming attacks.

Secondary Weapons

Sword - Your equipped with a sword capable of dealing quick damage and more importantly the ability to block and parry incoming attacks. Throughout the game you gain materials to upgrade you sword.
